Piano
The piano studio emphasizes the fundamental keyboard techniques required for classical piano playing. Our goal is to provide students with the technical skills they need so that they can understand, appreciate, and play a variety of music at the piano. The following elements will be taught:
1) scales/arpeggios/technique training 2) repertoire from all eras 3) interpretation of of different styles and genres of various eras 3) theory 4) sight reading 5) the opportunity to perform in recitals and performance classes Practice
Piano students should practice their scales, arpeggios and assigned pieces scales daily. In addition, they must have all written work completed before each week's lesson. The practice time should be free of distractions to maximize concentration and progress. The recommended practice time for each student will vary. Young beginners may practice 10 minutes daily and older advanced students may practice 60 minutes daily. Dr. V. Lam will recommend an approximate length of time per day for practice, and will stress the goals to be accomplished between lessons.
